Curtis Road Interchange

Saturday, August 1, 2015

To: Robeson Meadows West Homeowners Association Members
From: Brant Houston, president, Board of Directors

We have been contacted by the Planning and Development Department at the City of Champaign. They are undertaking a re-examination of rules for the development at the Curtis Road Interchange because the property owner of the land south of Robeson Meadows West is planning to develop it.

The owner has talked about a mix of residential properties and commercial properties. It is not clear if the owner would be the developer or someone else would.

The city also indicated that several developers have said the requirements in the 2007 Master Plan for the Interchange are too restrictive and thus the city is doing the re-examination of those requirements. In particular, the city requires that 80 acres be developed at a time to prevent the mess that North Prospect has become. (The parcel south of the neighborhood that borders Sand Hill Road is 99 acres.)

The assistant director of planning and development, Rob Kowalski will present a report during a city council study session, that begins on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. It is online on the City Council Web pages or find it here: http://bit.ly/1UeNN5Q
